Challenge
WELA needed a robust centralised CRM to support and communicate with their stakeholders and manage their activities and engagement.
Data was scattered across the Action Network platform and several spreadsheets that required constant manual revision and cross-checking, making it very difficult to have an overall and complete view of stakeholders.
The lack of functionality to record multiple email addresses and detailed interactions resulted in over 500 duplicate contacts, alongside a complex and difficult-to-maintain tagging system that relied on manual assignment and review.
WELA’s reporting capabilities were limited and time-consuming, which impacted their ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with people.
Solution
Blaze Your Trail implemented Salesforce with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), integrating the following platforms directly into Salesforce: Raisely for donations and memberships, Humanitix for events and engagement, Typeform for program applications, Mailchimp for segmented communications and Gmail for key email logging and productivity.
Blaze Your Trail customised key elements of Salesforce NPSP related to the relevant Contact and/or Organisation, such as Campaigns and Campaign Members, Relationships and Affiliations, philanthropy and operational Opportunities, Roll-Up Summaries, Recurring Donations, Levels and Duplicate Management. These elements were grouped under three specific Salesforce Apps to facilitate team-specific access. Thousands of contacts, donations and engagements were migrated and deduplicated.

The new system allows WELA to have dynamic segments to power highly targeted and relevant communication based on behaviour not manual tagging (right message, to the right audience, at the right time).
Operational efficiency & insight
The solution has reduced manual data entry - by automating record creation and updates whenever possible - improving data integrity and reliability. The duplicates system along with the Data Quality Dashboard enables easy maintenance.
