Project:herSELF

Project:Herself is an Australian charity founded by criminologist Tahlia Isaac to support women who are currently or formerly incarcerated. Led by women with lived experience, the organisation delivers practical, trauma-informed programs that help participants rebuild their confidence, navigate stigma, and overcome systemic barriers.

Challenge

Project:herSELF relied on spreadsheets and disconnected tools to track participant data, attendance, services delivered, survey responses, and donations. This made it difficult to maintain accurate information or form a complete picture of all their stakeholders.

Critical operational information—such as service delivery records, participant progress, and large donations—was hard to compile or audit, especially as the organisation grew. Reporting was time-consuming and often required piecing together data from multiple sources.

Survey responses submitted via Google Forms had to be manually transcribed, which was not only time consuming but was prone to transcription errors. Project:herSELF needed a central, reliable system to manage data efficiently and securely.

Solution

A custom Salesforce org was implemented using the Program Management Module (PMM) to unify participant management across all programs.

Program enrolment is streamlined using a user-friendly automation that creates Program Engagement and Service Delivery records. Attendance and service tracking now occur in real time, giving the team immediate visibility into how participants are engaging in each program.

Fundraising and donation data from the Raisely platform is recorded through Salesforce Campaigns, and a custom object was created to track distribution of essential items to correctional facilities. This expanded visibility helps Project:herSELF understand impact and resource allocation.

Benefits

Automation of enrolment, attendance tracking, and service recording has significantly reduced administrative workload, allowing the team to focus more time on supporting women directly. Manual spreadsheet work and transcription tasks have been largely eliminated.

Centralised participant records ensure higher data accuracy and timely insights. The team can quickly see who attended programs, what services were delivered, and how engagement is trending—all without merging spreadsheets or chasing missing information.

With all operational and fundraising data in one place, Project:herSELF now has stronger transparency and accountability. The organisation can confidently report progress to stakeholders, demonstrate impact, and support future funding applications with reliable evidence.

In their own words..

"We can now track all programs and impact of programs in a really easy way. My team can input data from wherever they are. Everything is in the one place!! Impact reporting is made so easy!"
